american english is like english but without unnecessary letters (in most cases)
's why it's called simplified english vs british's “traditional” english
Actually the reason why America spells words differently is because Webster was creating the American Dictionary and wanted it to be completely different from the English Dictionary. He even went as far as changing letters in words because he hated the English Dictionary so much.
I can almost hear the apathy in his voice.
